Kalvarija is a Protestant church formed by Christians in Celje, Slovenia, who gather together to worship the Lord and to know Him better. To us, being Christians means more than attending a religious meeting every now and then, but living for Jesus Christ our Savior everyday and in every area of our lives.
We do not belong to any denomination but are part of the international movement of Calvary Chapel churches. There are over 1000 Calvary Chapel churches around the world like ours, but each church is independent while sharing a common heart for God and ministering to His people. At Kalvarija, we beieve the church is not an organization but a group of believers united in their faith in Jesus Christ. He is the head of the church and the Bible is the foundation for all we believe and practice.
Our hope is to be strengthened in our faith by one another each time we meet, and then to shine as lights for Christ in this dark and lost world.
At Krščanska Cerkev Kalvarija we seek to focus on Jesus Christ at our services. We usually begin our meeting times by worshipping in song. Worship leaders playing the guitar or other instruments lead us in songs of praise and thanksgiving to God. The songs are simple to sing and easy to remember. Our desire is to do more than just sing spiritual songs together. It is a personal time for each one of us to truly worship God from our hearts and express how much we love Him and are grateful to Him.
In addition to worshipping, one of our main purposes in gathering is to study the Bible together. At our Sunday and mid-week meetings the pastor or another teacher leads us through a book in the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter. We desire to know His Word so we might be strengthened in our faith and also seek God’s guidance and direction for our everyday lives. |
